These Air Fryer Caramel Apple Donuts are super easy to make with refrigerator biscuits and apple pie filling. Bits of chopped caramel get added to the apples with a cinnamon sugar topping for the perfect fall breakfast.
I’m craving all things apple and pumpkin with the arrival of fall in just a couple of weeks. I can’t wait to make some of my favorite desserts such as Apple Buttermilk Brunch Cake and Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecake . The season wouldn’t be complete without waking up to the scent of baked Overnight Apple French Toast.
This recipe is perfect for fulfilling my kids’ sweet tooth cravings on weekend mornings when I want to deviate from our usual pancakes. I love how quick and easy they are to prepare with my favorite, Pillsbury Grand Biscuits. After getting your apple fix, try these Pumpkin Spice Pancakes for next weekend.
Needed Ingredients
- 20 oz. can apple pie filling – I just used this one.
- 1/2 C. Caramel Bits – The bits are easier to use for this recipe. You can also chop up pieces of the regular sized baking caramels.
- 1 tube of refrigerator biscuits – I used the Pillsbury Grands Southern Homestyle variety, but other brands would work.
- 1/2 C. Sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Ground Cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp. Butter – Unsalted works best.
Directions
- Roll out the biscuit dough so that it is around 6 inches in diameter. I used this Silicone Pastry Mat for best results.
- Cut up the apples in the apple pie filling so that they are around 1 inch cubes.
- Add the Cinnamon and Sugar to a medium bowl and mix together.
- Place around 1 rounded Tbsp. of apple pie filling in the center of the rolled biscuit.
- Top with several Caramel Bits.
- Gather the opposite ends of the filled biscuit and seal together by pressing along the edges. Repeat for the other ends; ensuring there are no gaps at the top.
- Place around 4 filled donuts in the Air Fryer basket with the folded side up.
- Bake at 390 degrees for 4 minutes; turn and bake an additional 4 minutes.
- Melt the butter in a small bowl.
- Brush both sides of the baked donut with melted butter.
- Coat the top by rolling the donut around in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Serve warm.
